Client Testimonial

When I first met Greg, two years ago, I was in dire need of a business coach. I had built a successful business, but I seemed to have reached an invisible barrier that stopped me every time I tried to grow in a new direction. Only through Greg’s coaching, was I able to understand and learn that this invisible barrier was really not in front of me, but was actually all of the incorrectly built components of my business which were calling me back.

Through Greg’s gentle and insightful style, I was able to grow in ways that I never knew possible. He was there for me when I needed support and pushed me when I needed motivation, all the while as interested and concerned about my business’s success as I was. He has become a trusted counselor, a valuable resource, and a friend.

One of Greg’s greatest strength is his ability to identify and implement new technology for his business and his clients. He is always on the lookout for new innovations to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of his clients’ businesses. This cutting edge approach ensures an innovative and fresh viewpoint.

Greg’s extensive experience working with hundreds of business owners in a variety of Industries gives him an expansive resource library from which he regularly pulls pertinent resources. In addition, his experience allows him to relate with me in a more understanding and personal manner. Finally, his experience gives me confidence in his ability to appreciate my struggles and provide an effective coaching for my growth and improvement.

Perhaps the thing I value most about Greg’s coaching style, is his true compassionate nature. I have always felt that Greg truly cares and is not only interested, but dedicated, to my success. Many times his belief in me and my success was greater than my own, which was invaluable. Oftentimes I told Greg, “I can see what you’re saying, but I trust you so I’ll follow your advice.” I’m glad I did!

Business Model Mentoring Program

I mentor a limited number of entrepreneurs each year, depending on how busy I am. I work with people who are starting a business, growing a business, or buying a business. In this program Greg will coach, help, and mentor you to build a strong, unique, and profitable business model. Think of it as the vehicle that transports your business throughout the life cycle of your business.

A Business Trip Road Map

There are many different ways to get to your destination. Like a road map, a Strategic Plan will help you chart the course of your ‘business trip’ and help you choose from all the possible paths, side roads, and highway options.

The Strategic Plan (road map)

  • Vision: The vision you create for your business is a mental image of the results, destination, and/or experiences your business will create as it goes about adding value and delivering your goods and services.
  • Values: Our values govern our behavior which is the outward expression of our personality. In the case of a business its values govern the way decisions are made, how employees conduct themselves, and help shape the actions taken to achieve the businesses objectives.
  • Results: these are the way we measure progress and the ultimate expression of the businesses success.
  • Milestones: depending on what results the business needs to achieve specific milestones will need to be achieved.

Turning SignMilestones are like road signs along the way that help you monitor the businesses progress and ensure you are on the right route to arrive at your destination. When the businesses vision, values or end results change - you will need to adjust the types of milestones that will be need to be achieved to be certain that the business produces the desired results. Now that we know where we are going (road map) we need an appropriate vehicle with the right equipment.

It’s Not The Driver it’s The Vehicle

You are the driver of your business, the business is the vehicle. No matter how hard you try to drive a worn out old ‘vehicle’ aka business model it eventually slows down, breaks down or quits. Choosing and building the right vehicle for your business model can totally transform the journey.

Anatomy of an Opportunity (engine)Engine of your business

The business opportunities is engine that powers your business model by providing the focus needed to exploit the current situation in your market and industry.

  • Three C’s: Identify the specific capacities, capabilities, and competencies of the company. The physical, mental, financial ability and legal right to meet customer expectations.
  • Opportunity: Is there a favorable or advantageous set of circumstances that you can exploit to create a unique advantage in the market.
  • Motivation: What are the events surrounding their life that causes them to become aware of the need for your products or services? Define who, what, and when people look to buy. What is the Buying Cycle? Is the market accessible and cost effective to reach? Or will you need to find a way to prompt, motivate, inspire or instigate customers into action? What methods or steps will need to be taken to establish the need for your product or service in the mind of your customer?
  • Environment: What is the industry situation? Is your market stagnant, declining, or growing? How do you know? What does the financial health of the industry look like? Is there something you can exploit to spur growth and development in your business?

Value Configuration (compass)CompassHow the business creates goodwill and value is the compass that provides a sense of direction and make course corrections on your trip in the marketplace.

  • Market Needs: What drives people to purchase the products or services in your industry? Research and identify customer Needs, Wants, Emotions, and Perceptions. Where are the roadblocks? What prevents people from buying your products or services? your company, staff, products, and services.
  • Ideal Customer: Create a Profile of your ideal customer, the target audience for a business’ products and services.
  • Document the Value Added Chain: In this step we examine the activities, events, and time occupied at each step in your value added chain. This step defines what you will do to create value to each step of the customer experience.

Slippery RoadDesign the Customer Experience (body, style, type of vehicle)How you do business is everything. Your employees, sales, marketing, distribution, and delivery impacts the customers experience. It determines the style, approach, and methods used to deliver your products or services to the customer.

  • Blueprint the Customer Experience: This will include everything you do to develop a great customer experience, the manufacture/preparation of the product or service, your sales system, plans for distribution, and the consumption or delivery of the product/service. Create a flowchart or diagram of the path you need/want a customer to take to ensure they have a great experience for your customer. It must identify the path they will travel as they consider buying and taking delivery of your product(s) or service(s).
  • Human Resources: Your business model needs to select and develop your human resources to ensure that making sure you have the right people in the right seats to operate and run the business (vehicle).
  • Sales & Marketing: This includes your sales, marketing and distribution strategy i.e. the process you will use to establish a link between the company and its different customer segments.
  • Distribution & Delivery: How you will manage customer relationships and the means by which you will deliver your products or services to customers.

Create a Financial Model (fuel and electrical system)Engine of your businessThe way you manage the finances that come in and go out of your business is like the fuel and electrical system in any vehicle - without fuel and the electricity to ignite it - the vehicle is going nowhere.

  • Revenue Generation: The marketing, sales, and promotion tools and systems you will use to acquire new customers.
  • Build Budgets: Develop a spreadsheet of your Production and Overhead costs.
  • Examine Viability: What is your break-even point?
  • Sensitivity Analysis: Test different scenarios of changes in your assumptions, revenues, and costs. Study the impact of these changes on the financial viability your projections.

Implementation & Process (brakes and accelerator)Brakes and AcceleratorThe brakes and accelerator of a business are the processes, systems, and the way you go about implementing your plan. There are days when you may need to slow things down and then there are those when you need to hit the accelerator.

  • Process: Your business process is how you break the work down into individual steps. Knowing which steps come in what order makes all the difference.
  • Organization: The structure and arrangement of the business is what creates efficiency and effectiveness. The way your business is organized needs to be in sync with the process and methods.
  • Work Flow: Think organizational chart and defining who does what, when.
  • Exit Strategy: Planning in advance for your exit will allow you to look ahead to determine when and how you will exit the business in an orderly way.
