I don’t get it. How can a company be so brilliant and progressive and stupid?

I got an iPod Touch for my birthday. Love the iPod Touch. I am using it as a mobile extension of desktop computer. I noticed that when I enter a contact into the iPod Touch it does not sync with Address Book. Thinking it was a bug, I called Apple.

I was surprised to learn that they only support syncing from the computer to the iPod Touch. I was dumbfounded. When I enter a appointment on the iPod Touch it adds it to my iCal calendar what is the big deal with contacts?

I realize that the iPhone and iPod Touch are the first devices to support data entry on the device itself but geez Louise this makes no sense at all.

Anyone out there figure out how to get your contacts from the iPod Touch into Address Book?

If you’re on a mac I think this is possible. I have a iPhone and all my contacts sync with Address Book. I believe the same is possible with the iPod Touch.

When connected to iTunes select the iPod then click on the “Info” tab. Make sure “Sync Address Book Contacts” is checked.

I also like to put new contacts into the group “Business” since those are the ones I add on my iPhone the most. So I check the box for that also.

Does the iPod touch not have this option in iTunes?

I have been trying to sync the address book for weeks. I emptied iSync history. I could not find my new contacts searching “All”. Then I stumbled upon them within a “group” apparently when you add a contact using the iPod Touch in a “group” it does not add it to the “all” category.

Perhaps this is just a bug and I will report it.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Yes I agree for such a brilliant company they have room for improvement. I have had my ipod now for about 2 months I bought it from a great company called http://www.memorysuppliers.com they were very good when helping chose the right system for my needs. Little did I know then (without ever owning an ipod) what my need might actually be. I really do like my ipod but like you I am not able to use the address book to pass info back to my computer. I hope they fix this soon!

    Thanks,
    Walter

Got something to say?
